FIRST SEMESTER
|
|
Course
#1 will give you an overview of Rotary Electronic
Communications at all levels both currently and
historically. District 5110 has
communicated electronically with its district and
club leaders for the past eight years. As an
LA student you will receive all of your
communications electronically and you will
complete all of your course work electronically.
This course will prepare you for all future
courses and provide you with an opportunity to
evaluate how you will use it as a potential future
district leader.

Course
#2 will give you in in depth instruction in
membership recruitment, retention, and club
extension. Tools will be provided that will
show you how to assist clubs in the area of
membership in order to increase and strengthen
the clubs.
|
|
|
| Course #3 will focus on
strategic planning for clubs to help them build
for the future. Students
will learn how the work of the club relates to
the district and how the
continuity between the two can be beneficial to
both. The reorganization of Rotary clubs
under the Club Leadership Plan is recommended by
RI and strategic planning plays a significant
role in the implementation of the CLP. In addition, students
will cover material related to the
organizational structure of Rotary
International. |
SECOND SEMESTER
|
|
Course #4 gives
Academy students an overview of Rotary
International's Public Relations program for
clubs and how Public Relations can be used
as a tool to build an effective Rotary Club.

|
Course
#5
will cover part one of Rotary's "crown jewel" . . . The Rotary
Foundation. The focus in this course will be on the
programs of The Rotary Foundation and the various giving
programs of The Rotary Foundation.

|
Course
#6,
the final course in the Leadership Academy, will cover Service
Projects at the club and International level
and the many
Humanitarian Grants available through The Rotary Foundation.
In addition, there will be a an overview of
the District Simplified Grant program and
the Volunteer Service Grant program. Each of these grants is unique in its criteria and how it can
be used. Students will learn which grants can be used
for which purposes.

Course #7: Rotary's New Generation
Programs (Optional Course - Being Field
Tested)
(April) |
| Course #7 is
a new course that is being field tested
during the 2010-2011 Academy year.
This course focuses on Rotary's new Fifth
Avenue of Service which was approved by the
2010 Council on Legislation. It will
cover RYLA, Rotaract, Interact, and Youth
Exchange. During this first year, it
will be an optional course (in place of the
final essay). |
