Harriett Schloer

A Rotarian since October 1996 and a member of the Rotary Club of Bend High Desert, she has been her club's Treasurer, Bulletin Editor, Directory Editor, Club Internet Communications Officer, Tree of Joy Committee member, and program coordinator for the Deschutes County Rotary Shots for Tots free immunization program. 

She has served as District Webmaster and Chair of the D5110 Communications Committee since being inducted into Rotary.  She has also served as District Newsletter Editor, Editor of the District Directory and has been a District Leadership Academy faculty member for four years.  She authored the Leadership Academy course on Electronic Communications.

In 1999 she became webmaster to PRIP Frank J. Devly.  She was appointed by President Devlyn to the 2000-2001 Technology Task Force and served as a trainer (electronic communications) at the 2000 International Assembly.  RI President, Richard D. King (2001-2002) has appointed her to the 10-member Executive Steering Committee on Rotary’s Public Image (2001-2002).  In 2002, RI President Bhichai Rattakul appointed her to the RI Technology Committee which is currently addressing ways in which technology and communication can better serve Rotary at all levels around the world. 

On January 31, Harriett and Walt became the last two members to have their names added to the Charter papers for the Rotary Club of Bend High Desert after spending over nine months recruiting and organizing the new club.

Item of Interest
Harriett has been the District 5110 Webmaster since 1995 and has served as the District Director of Communications since 1998.  She has been an Academy instructor since the first year and wrote the complete curriculum for the Communications course as there was no Rotary material available for the course.
